  • As you walk Hannibal’s historic streets, your guide will share the documented truths behind the town’s more scandalous past, stories of murder, vice, misfortune, and unsolved mysteries that shaped life along the river. These accounts reveal the lore beneath the history, grounding the experience in fact while illuminating the darker edges of Hannibal’s past.

    As the tour concludes along Main Street, the narrative begins to shift. Guests are introduced to documented accounts of reported paranormal activity associated with the Laura Hawkins House, offering a thoughtful transition from history into mystery and the opportunity to draw their own conclusions.

    Guests will then enter the Laura Hawkins House for a self-guided paranormal investigation. Equipped with copper dowsing rods, on loan for the tour, and access to select research tools, you are invited to engage with the space and consider what may still linger within its walls. This portion of the experience lasts approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

    The evening concludes in Laura’s Secret Garden, a secluded Victorian setting just behind the home. Here, guests will enjoy a special presentation by Nora Creason, owner of the Laura Hawkins House, offering insight into the life of Laura Hawkins, both in connection with Samuel Clemens and in her own right as the inspiration for Becky Thatcher, providing a deeper understanding of her place in Hannibal’s history.

    While gathered in the garden, guests will enjoy a Victorian tea featuring locally curated blends, light refreshments, and freshly baked goods prepared by Kristine Russell of the Dubach Inn. Wine is also available upon request. In this intimate atmosphere, guests are invited to relax, reflect, and share their impressions of the evening’s experience.

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable once purchase is complete, regardless of circumstances.
However, if Hannibal Expeditions Tour Agency cancels a tour in its entirety, guests will receive a full refund.
