  • Nestled just behind the historic home of Laura Hawkins lies a romantic Victorian garden, where guests will conclude their tour in a relaxed and intimate setting. This serene atmosphere creates a sense of connection and engagement, with time for questions, conversation, and the opportunity to share their own reflections from the evening.

    Guests of From Corsets to Blue Jeans will enjoy self-guided tours of both the Molly Brown House and the Laura Hawkins House on 5th Street. Upon arrival at the Laura Hawkins House, guests will conclude their visit with a Victorian tea while completing their self-guided experience.

    All guests will receive a special presentation by Nora Creason, owner of the Laura Hawkins House, exploring the life of Laura Hawkins, both in connection with Samuel Clemens and in her own right as the inspiration for Becky Thatcher. Guests will gain deeper insight into her story and how her presence helped shape the character and culture of Hannibal during her time.

    While relaxing in Laura’s Secret Garden, guests will sip locally curated teas and enjoy light refreshments and freshly baked goods prepared by Kristine Russell of the Dubach Inn, creating a warm and memorable atmosphere close to the evening. A selection of wine is also available upon request.
